This old piece comes straight from the pages of Dynamite Entertainment's Red Sonja comic (the cover to issue #45 of their initial run, if you're wondering). I wasn't going to upload this on its own because you can see it in my Red Sonja submission, but I might as well describe the process for making it. •Started with a '90s TV Hercules accessory for the haft, I think the figure came with a bow that shoots spears. A BOW THAT SHOOTS SPEARS. Awesome! I cut off the ugly spearhead and sculpted a few bits of detail, leaving a section at the top to attach the axe blade. Leather wrap is strips of electrical tape. •Cut out the axe blade's shape from a cereal box...yes, I was new to fabricating things. It was of course flimsy and crappy, so I added a layer of Apoxie Sculpt on both sides to make it stronger, then sanded the sides smooth. Then I carefully beveled the edges, making sure not to expose the ugly cardboard underneath (If you make blades, just use plastic sheets like styrene). The whole thing ended up with a rough handmade look, I like it. •Opened a cavity in the haft's head and slid the blade in, then glued and anchored it with more apoxie. •Dark basecoats of paint, some brown for the wrap, steel for the metal parts and a brighter color for the beveled edges to add visibility. ![]() |

I'll upload a big sword soon though.
Yeah, at the very least all those random bits can turn into Mad Max style weapons. lol
I'll have to try the glue with paper. And if it dries solid, it may be a good way to bulk up areas too, to not waste apoxie or foil
