And when my world is realized, you will sit at my side along with my daughter! -Ras al Ghul, as spoken in Batman # 240, 1972 Talia al Ghul is by far my favorite Batman frienemy. She was my my very first completed custom ever, that I did a little while ago. She's simple, and to the point. Also, Talia changes her outfits a LOT, but I think this is one of her defining outfits. It's the same style she wore through the 90's cartoon series, and she appeared this way in the comics also. In the 1970's stories, she starts out being in love with Batman, and that's how Ras al Ghul is introduced, throughout the course of several issues. Things fall apart between Batman and Ras, but Talia completely had the hots for Batman, and she saves his life when he is dueling her father Ras. They were partners for a little while at least. Now about that duel between Batman and Ras, this is the New 52 version of Batman dueling Ras. The Ras and Talia origin story from the 70's survived, and the old story is still apart of the New 52 continuity. This is how batman looked when that duel is mentioned in (I think it was the New 52 Batman Incorporated miniseries). Essentially, Batman and Ras duel, with their shirts off, out in the middle of the desert. It's kind of odd but Batman keeps his cowl on. In the old version of the story he took his gloves off (which would have made this figure a lot easier to do). In the New 52 he keeps his gloves on also. The duel ended up going alright and Batman and Talia did fall in love for a short while, hence the Tag-Team contest entry. Have you ever worn a Batman cowl out in the desert sun? I'm from Phoenix, and I don't recommend it. These are both figures that I had hoped would be released someday in DC Collectibles form but alas they haven't yet. We did get a 4 inch scale Talia like this back in the 90's though I think. Batman wasn't as simple as just taking his shirt off, or repainting his upper body. I cracked a Mattel Daniel Bryan and part swapped the shirtless bits onto the Batman legs, hands, and head. I had to do a little resculpting, but not very much. I repainted his skin so it would match, but I really wanted the factory look, so I didn't repaint his pants at all. Batman looks appropriately slightly smaller in stature, when compared to the torso of the original figure (which is supposed to have body armor). Anyway I hope you all like this, I thank you for your consideration. This was a Talia and a Batman that had to be made!!! -Jeffrey ![]() |
