I found Soma’s line of 6” Monster Man figures at Woolworth’s in early 1987. Back then I was really into reworking action figures into static display models. I wasn’t trying so much to collect entire lines as I was looking for specific figures that I thought would look good detailed out and repainted.

I did the rock guy immediately and later combined the lizard and bird characters into one figure. Because the figures were hollow and made of a very soft plastic, I filled them with Durham’s Rock Hard Water Putty for rigidity.

Other than that, this was just a total repaint. I came up with a neat trick for the eyes. First I painted them gloss black, then coated them with transparent red!
