Body-Legacy Modern Batman figure Gloves- Mattel Zip-line Batman Belt- 2003 con exclusive repaint of Zip-line Cape & Cowl- Young Justice Batman Chest Emblem- Jibbitz Croc shoe "charm" When I picture Batman, his anatomy and costume have long been defined for me by the likes of Jim Aparo, Neal Adams, George Perez, and José Luis García-López. I love his yellow chest emblem, and have always preferred it over a plain bat. It's iconic and instantly recognizable, It pairs well with the bat-signal, matches his yellow belt, and contrasts nicely with Super Man's Crest and symbolically ads to their status as counterparts or reflections of one another. I also prefer the classic capsule belt. I feel that it looks higher-tech than a pouch belt, which looks like an army belt or tool belt, more befitting of a billionaire character. It also streamlines his silhouette and reveals more of the costume. I have never enjoyed a blue costume, though. I think Batman works best in black, and I think his most striking and inspiring appearances have struck a balance between the silver and bronze era design, with the darker black of the pre-50's and post-80's looks. I think that this is why his initial design on Batman: The Animated Series worked so well, and clicks with so many people. So, I used the Legacy Modern Batman, because it had the unique sculpt of the DCSH Batman (the best 6" body for the character) and a paint job that matches DCUC better. I trimmed off the belt, and popped off the gloves. I added the belt from the 2003 exclusive blue Batman repaint of zip-line, and the cape and head from a young Justice Batman. I added zip-line's gloves, because they match the plastic of the cape and can grip, I had to cut plastic connecting them and drill a hole in each for the new pegs. For his emblem, I wanted it to be big, and a raised/sculpted detail. I initially planned to find earnings or a necklace charm to use, but then I stumbled on these kid's charms for croc shoes that can plug into the holes. I got one of these, ripped off the plug, and trimmed off a significant amount of bulk from the back. I then glued it to Batman's chest, making sure it contoured to his physique. I set him on the fantastic base that comes with the Young Justice figure, and found that the raised section perfectly fits the desk top basting I got at Barnes and Noble. To me, this is an ideal representation. ![]() |
