Anya, here, was a commission from a fantastic regular client. I was a bit nervous about this one as I know little about the Gears of War series or its characters. I did a good bit of research and found some good images of Anya with and without the heavy armor, so I decided to attempt both. The Gears armor is very specific, so I didn't want to mess it up. I got a hold of one of the 4 inch figures, stripped it down, and hollowed out the torso to make it able to slip over the Lady Thor torso, then added a belt of sorts under the front to connect to the back. I also transfered the boots over and did some repainting to the adopted pieces. For the rest of the figure, I sculpted the torso details, pants and gauntlets. I also cut and sculpted some to the hair of a Valkyrie to fit the desired look. For the painting, I used both black and sepia washes after the initial paint to get some good weathering and a bit of oiliness on the armor. Then I took a GI Joe stand and sculpted a gear to the center and painted and washed it some to fit. I hope I managed to capture the feel of the character and the game. Though I enjoy the challenge of some of the characters I'm less familiar with, I'm always a bit nervous that I could miss the mark. In the end, my client seems quite happy with the figure, and that's my biggest concern. Thanks folks. ![]() |
