Scorpion (Mortal Kombat) Custom Action Figure
Scorpion was made with an older high-articulation venom figure. The black body made for a great base to keep paint out of the joints for long lasting durability. The arms and hands were from a wrestling figure. Skull head was from build-a-figure Red Skull and the ninja head was from a gi Joe sigma. To get the look I wanted from the stylized sigma head, the sculpt of the eye was painted flesh and the eyes were painted the size I wanted over the top. Leg and arm armor as well as arm straps were from fodder. The ninja garb is made from yellow craft foam, which worked well to keep the ab crunch joint. The foam also took paint well. I had a more subtle paint job on the yellow garb with beautiful gradation, but it seemed to dissapear with distance so I added a lot more contrast and saturation of pigment. The belt is also two pieces to retain the waist twist articulation. Torso was painted over with black vinyl spray paint, which is great for durability and handling, to get rid of the white spider emblem. This vinyl paint was also applied to the arms under the armor. Harpoon accessory was made from craft wire and the spear head from foam to keep the end light. Random Mcfarlane base with new pegs and a stand for the extra head. This was a commission for a friend and he is very happy with it. It is a fun piece. I wish I had time for a better photo shoot, maybe sometime in the future. Thanks for looking gang.
