About a year or more ago, I started a custom of Thranduil from the Battle of the Five Armies, (nobody panic that's done and will be posted tomorrow), which I stated I would finish last January. Well it's been a long first year at University and I've done some customising but been away from home too much to finish BOTFA Thranduil. So I made this one alongside him as I've been working on a Elrond from the Hobbit as I like the red armour he wears in his first scene. So I used a Council of Elrond head for that custom on a last allience body and ended up with an Elrond body left over. Then lightbulb make Thranduil. I ended up taking the rubbery plastic robe from his torso and the dress part off and put them on a Legolas figure (Two Towers one). I used the Black Gate or 'Pelenor Fields's' Aragorn's hands and sculpted the varous rings Thranduil wears. the lower legs beneath the knee are jsut Elronds, but the rest is Legolas. The head is the same type one I took for my BOTFA Thranduil, its from the least articulated Legolas besides the Throwing Dagger one. This Legolas I swear alwyas comes with just 1 dagger and can be bought in the 9-pack of the fellowship, decent face likeness in my view. The hair is taken from the other Thranduil as I found him more appropriate hair from another figure. It was essentially hair from a Legolas, a Susan storm from the old film and Eowyn. I sculpted the eyebrows on and started working on the crown. When you buy a figure you get the cable ties to keep figures in place and as I had a lot of the pure plastic ones I made them thinner and more shaped like twigs and made the crown gluing onto his head. I then took Miliput and sculpted Leaves and Berries into the crown design and then painted the figure. I was discussing with a friend wheterh to do an alternative head with his 'great serpents' face damage, but these old toybiz heads aren't known for head interchangability without lots of stress and hot water and I'd end up making another identicle custom but with some changes to the face so I thought It's less than 10 seconds in the movie so meh. Hope you like! (Didn't go on about the sword as it's still a work in progress and will be covered in the other Thranduil figure custom). Please wait... |
