This week I'm focusing on Marvel villains. Really glad to be back into themes. Not even a full month in and already making characters I've procrastinated for ages. I've done Vulcan a few times before in his original costume, but I've always wanted to do the Emperor design. You ever look at some images and just suddenly find yourself overwhelmed by the design? Like, you're not seeing the details anymore. You're just seeing the whole. Suddenly, the armor isn't just a few layered pieces with grooves cut in. Instead, it's a lot of armor, massive, and you don't see the segments. That kept happening for me with Emperor Vulcan. But, once I started him, I realized he wasn't bad at all. Gave him hands from Nova so he'd have two fists. A cape from the movie Thor, and a head from BossFightStudios. Sculpted up the shoulders, bracers, the full boots, and redid the entire torso, segmenting out the body, and added some black lines to add more noticeable detail to it. I was really afraid I wouldn't be able to do the armor justice and still maintain the articulation, but it ended up being really easy. Didn't have any issues with it at all. Just a few step by step days of sculpting to not mess anything up. Super proud of this one. An early favorite for my year already!
