Hi, guys !

This „welcome to middle-earth“-contest was the required motivation, to finally create this figure. I wanted to have it, for a long time, but was deterred by the estimated amount of work...which was way more, than expected, finally, BUT... here it is :

the battle-troll, Aragorn had a life-or-death-struggle with, at the black gate of Mordor, in the movie „Return of the king“.
By far the coolest troll-design, in the three-part-series, in my opinion.

Initially, Sauron himself should have been Aragorn‘s opponent.
P. Jackson had already shot those scenes, but turned it down for some reasons and replaced the dark lord, by that CGI-Troll.
Maybe that‘s the explanation why Toybiz released a figure of the trolls, which push ‘n pull the mechanism, to open the black gate and labeled it „armored troll“(which isn’t armored...) instead of this indeed
massively armored beast.?
Anyways !

Recipe:

Dremeled off all straps
Resculped those skin-areas
Removed all armor
Reshaped and sculpted chest-armor
Sculpted
all other new parts of armor over rubber-segments, from scratch.
Cut off the jaw
Repositioned it with a needle; hot-glued and sculpted an oral cavity and tongue
Sharpened or replaced the original teeth (too round) Four are carved/filed from a round ballhead of a needle (left 3mm of the needle underneath. Pierced holes in the jaws and implanted the new teeth in it.

Closing the right hand (to hold the sword which is thinner, than the maze ) by driving needles through the center of two fingers and the palm.
Sword is carved of polypropylene; sculpted handle and grey nubuk leather
the greenish liner under the chest-armor and the loincloth are made of an old shammy. Rivets are heads of needles
Sculpted new armor padings at the arms
New straps made of leather
The buckles are made of metal-chain-link; (filed off its chrome) with a piece of a needle, wrapped around one side, as moveable thorn.
All chains are real metal (black chrome) abraded it’s surface, to make the primer; metal- and rust-effect-colors stick.
They are attached with metal-rings on the back-armor and with little nails (bent to U-shape; abraded heads) on the chest-armor.

I‘ve extended the handle of the mace a little bit and resculpted the spikes too.

Teeth : Underhive Ash; Eldar Flesh; Steel Legion Drab

Cloth : Death world Forrest; Castellan Green; Nurgling Green

Loincloth : mid-brown and black shoepolish
