I knew I was gonna pick up a few extra Black Knight figures when he was revealed, and when he hit Amazon I was lucky enough to grab a few. First up is Sir Percy of Scandia, the original Black Knight! I really liked that Hasbro included the interchangeable Sir Percy helmeted head, but alas, for me, Dane Whitman;s costume was too inaccurate for me. Enter this custom! I decided to go for the look presented in the Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz one-shot from 2010, as well as the look from the original Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Recipe: Head, body, Ebony Sword: Cull Obsidian Series Black Knight Cape: SDCC Lady Thor Skirt: Karl Mordo I boiled and popped the legs off. I used an X-Acto knife to trim Mordo's skirt so that it would fit around the figure's lower torso. I also used the knife to trim off parts of the skirt piece in the front and Dremeled it down before using sandpaper to get it as smooth as possible. This trimmed skirt was pretty close to accurate but wide enough for dynamic posing. I painted all of the red parts of his costume yellow, as well as any details not there originally (the boots and sides of his torso). I painted the belt(s) of Mordo's skirt piece with a thin coat of yellow to better show the details of the sculpt. I mixed and painted the green of the skirt blue before outlining the trim of it a matching yellow. I then popped the legs on with some heat, slapped on the Lady Thor cape and voila! We have the original Black Knight! ![]() |
