Mike Friedrich took over Roy Thomas to become a writer for Astonishing Tales with # 15 (December 1972). It presents a new status quo in which Ka-Zar lives in New York and "lady biologist" and the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Barbara (who now prefers to be called "Bobbi"). Morse is his constant companion.13

Friedrich remained the writer of several Ka-Zar series in color for the next two years14 15 and for most of that period he continued to present Morse as Ka-Zar's partner and occasionally with a love interest. In these stories she is represented as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. fully trained. Despiser of the origins of her forest, she is the companion of Ka-Zar to the city and modern life. Together she and Ka-Zar address threats such as the Pusher, 16 Gemini, 17 Victorius, 18 19 20 Gog, 18 and Sacker.17 18 As the series progresses, start wearing a typical costume of polarized glasses, a piece of red and boots. His designation of "Agent 19" of S.H.I.E.L.D. is revealed, 18 and she and Ka-Zar finally kiss.21

In 1974, the Ka-Zar color series left Astonishing Tales and was relaunched in Ka-Zar, title of The Lord of the Hidden Jungle. The strip is set once again in Savage Land and Morse is absent in the first story. She returns in the third issue, explaining that Nick Fury sent her to a mission of S.H.I.E.L.D. to investigate "El Tigre", a subversive who is exploiting the energy crisis in South America.22 This leads her to reluctantly travel to the Savage Land, where she and Ka-Zar defeat El Tigre and his ally Man together God together.23

The introduction of Shanna La Diablesa in the supporting cast of Ka-Zar24 changes the role of Morse in the stories of this period. Ka-Zar expresses a clear attraction towards Shanna, who is friendlier to the jungle from the beginning25 and Morse has the second love interest. This dynamic is most noticeable in Morse's only appearance on the Ka-Zar strip in the black and white magazine Savage Tales (# 8, January 1975). Written by Gerry Conway, the story shows Morse leading Shanna and a group of agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Wild Land where they work with Ka-Zar to neutralize a threat to world security. During the course of the adventure, Morse realizes that Ka-Zar's affections meet Shanna.26 This story, first published at the end of 1974, is the last one in which Morse appears as a secondary character. of Ka-Zar.
