So for this tutorial I will be using my Dain Ironfoot as an example. Some things may seem obvious but this is an important process.
Paint it black
Most figures require a base coat and often that means you’ve got to paint the parts you plan to paint black.
Optional shine
Now this I did and realised I probably didn’t need to do until later but an undercoat can add a “brilliance” to the colour of the armour in this case it will be blue but this undercoat provides a shine to the next layer.
Armor colour.
Now paint the armour the colour you want in this car it was dark blue. I used citadel paint for all of this.
Aging
To achieve a decent look take a older brush (where the bristles have spread out or a brush you don’t care too much about damaging or if you have a wider set brush use that) and only put a small bit of paint on it by lightly dippin it then to not waste paint use the sides of the pot to wipe most of the paint off so essentially you’re left with a brush that is slightly silver. This is a dry brushing method and requires a brush that is dry to begin with so after you wash a brush use kitchen towel to dry it. . For gold and silver armour a black would be more appropriate
Detailing
Next it’s all about adding the details with a fine brush so you can see the gold trim added to the armour
Tidy up and shoot
Lastly tidy up any smudges paint smears or messy areas then take your pics!
