Custom 6"-7" Aragorn Figure with great face in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by wolfstrike28
Monday, August 12, 2019
   [Edit]
Hello figure realm community. So i have this idea and I want to see what some of you think. I was thinking of perhaps creating a Aragorn action figure that closely resembles Viggo's face accurately. Most of ToyBiz's models for him that's a 6-7" figure aren't perfect. What I was thinking, and tell me if this is crazy, that i create a 3D model of his face in a program and use a Form Labs 3D printer to print it, paint it, and place it on a action figures head. If this is possible, i think it is from what i looked up, does anyone know maybe the size of the head has to be in order for it to on an existing LoTR ToyBiz 6-7" figure? Or does anyone have suggestions on perhaps another toy model i could use to build this custom aragorn figure. I'm ope...[See More]

Commissions? in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by Customfan65

Hey everybody, I’m a collector and huge fan of the work on here. I’m having difficulty finding some of the figures I’m looking for on ebay and would be willing to pay for commissioned work. If I’m posting in the wrong section, I do apologize. As for what I’m looking for, they’re all marvel related. Specifically a M.O.D.O.K. I’m well aware of the craftsmanship and just want to stress that finding the figures is my problem, not cost. Hope everyone is staying safe!...[See More]

Painting Vintage Figures Question in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by Frightmare13
Wednesday, January 15, 2020
   [Edit]
Hi All,
I'm new and love the site! So I recently started my own customizing of Masters of the Universe figures, mostly from the original 80s Mattel line. I painted two so far but used acrylic paint I bought from Walmart, which I literally just read on here not to use. I noticed that the paint does indeed scratch off easily. Since I cant' really go back, is there anything I can do to remedy this at this point? I wish I had discovered this site first before I started but better late than never! ...[See More]

Hi thanks for responding. Ok that's great for removing but what if I wanted to leave it the way it is, can I coat the figures with something to prevent the paint from scratching off easily? Would Mod Podge work or some kind of sealer?

Hi. I'm new here too, but I have some experience with making mistakes. Rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush usually removes most acrylic paint. The paint I always use is either Tamiya or Vallejo. Hope this helps.

I used a dremel and sandpaper. The dremel will speed up the process, but can cause extra work trying to sand the rough parts down. Before you try a dremel though, try using 220 grit sandpaper to sand off the logo, then use 600 grit sandpaper to smooth everything out. It might take a little longer this way, but it should save you a lot of work. You should be able to find the sandpaper at a hardware store.

The 220 grit is good for sanding off areas quickly, and the 600 grit is good for smoothing it out afterwards and giving it a nice finish.

As long as the customs were done well, with proper preparation and paint, I'd suggest a soft, natural hair, long bristled paint brush, 1/2" to 1" wide (I use a 1 1/2" since it happens to be what I have) for removing dust. A light brushing should be all that's needed to remove most of the dust. For more stubborn dust which has worked its way into sculpt details you can use a soft bristled toothbrush with warm, slightly soapy water per usual customization cleaning prep, then rinse off under the tap. Again, I'd say this is probably ok to do with properly customized figures, using a light touch, but if you have any doubts about them at all then maybe skip this part, non-customized figures should be fine unless they're very old and already have paint chipping off. Anyway, just sharing my expe ...
Mighty Max Color Variations and one missing playset. in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by Kooshmeister
Friday, December 27, 2019
   [Edit]
There's a few color variants missing from the Mighty Max playset checklist, and one entire playset, a Doom Zone called Mighty Max Extinguishes the Fire Alien. First up:

Doom Zone Color Variants: Two playsets that I know of had distinct color variants:

1. Terminates Wolfship 7 - Silver exterior with green wings and engines and a blue interior. The figures of Lord Lupor and the Lieutenant were colored black instead of blue. Apparently it was only available in a three-pack called Triple Horror with the Horror Heads Lava Beast and Kronosaur. Pic: [Picture] I'd add this set under its three-pack's name.

2. Stings Scorpion - Kinda purplish with gold highlights. Referred to as...[See More]

Star Trek franchise in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by mechhead
Monday, December 9, 2019
   [Edit]
Does anyone know, who now has the license to produce Star Trek Action Figures? I recently contacted McFarlane Toys to ask them if they still had the rights, and if they were planning to produce any new items. Awhile back, I had corresponded with them when they were negotiating for the those rights and found out that they had obtained some but now all; now they say they no longer have that license and don't plan on getting it again. So, I'm not sure who to bug with my questions, anybody got the skinny on this?...[See More]

Scroll down to Toys & Games

Several companies with rights for different items. There's also an entry for "Figurines" higher up in a different section, though I'm guessing those are like Eaglemoss figurines.
Inappropriate, code of conduct in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by TheSolarSailor
Tuesday, November 5, 2019
   [Edit]
All of a sudden, I have trouble posting a Tom of Finland figure because I am violating the code of conduct by posting inappropriate pictures. Nothing different from the past posts in this series which were ok. I just spent time looking up female action figures such as Vampirella, Fairchild, and others, and I noticed plenty of excessive titts and ass cheeks hanging out of the thongs of women wearing practically nothing. I even found some nipples. Totally family friendly regarding these women characters, but God forbid it be a guy character. Ah the double standards....[See More]

Check my responses in this topic https://www.figurerealm.com/topic?topicid=10390

I don't know who the few other Regulators are, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have different ideas for what's acceptable, so the same submissions may get accepted or rejected depending on who gets to it first.

There may also be a system in place where if a Regulator rejects something, and the person then submits the exact same thing again, it may get auto-rejected. I'm not 100% sure on that, that's why I suggested they contact the admin. (Instead the person made another topic to call us all idiots and left forever, so meh.) ...

Looks like they both use pins so yeah, you should be able to heat the parts to disassemble them.
