Banshee (Marvel Legends (Hasbro)) Review
Banshee
Marvel Legends (Hasbro) (Hasbro)Coming to a clearance rack near you is Hasbro's rendition of the Banshee. Hasbro seemed to deliver a promising start with figures like Planet Hulk and Hercules but where on earth did this figure come from?

In the package the lonely figure stands arms sprawled with spandex wings skillessly draped on each side. As I approached the hanging peg, I thought to myself, all he needs is a guitar and he'll look just like one of those hair bands from the '80s. The packages I saw at my local Target were littered with greasy fingerprints from popcorn munching onlookers carelessly lifting the package to see if other figures were behind it on the peg hook.

The paint job would stand out first on the figure, if it were anything more than mediocre. Hasbro got the colors right and sadly that's about as far as I can go with the paint job comments.

Sculpting on the figure is amateur at best, a complete lack of detail transforms a rather buff hero into an effeminate hunk of semi-articulated plastic. If a customizer were skilled enough to construct breasts on this figure they could use it as a base for a Storm Mod. Unfortunately, Hasbro sabotaged most customizing attempts by engineering the all too long neck at a horrendous 30 degree forward angle. When this figure is placed in a knee bent pose, head forward, at best it appears constipated and at worst like it was plagued with spinal meningitis. Suggested accessories for this figure would be a collapsible walker or maybe a nice duck-head walking stick.

The face showed some promise in sculpting as it's certainly more detailed than the rest of the figure. The open mouth is skillfully sculpted and the teeth are painstakingly detailed. unfortunately, the flesh tone is pale enough to make the figure look like a real banshee, and the hair is almost one dimensional it's so lackluster. The figure might be usable for mod fodder if there weren't a series of unstrategically placed holes along the gloves and side of the body for the "wings" to plug into. The feet are just posable enough to allow you to make the constipated stance, and that's about it.

This figure should enrage Banshee fans and I sincerely hope that someone lost their job over it. I know customizers that would have done a much better job making this figure and the "professionals" should be ashamed to call this finished. The only saving grace in this figure is that you need it to get one of the Annihilus wings (which are sculpted much more professionally than this figure is I might add!).
