Is FigureRealm Dying?

Posted in Off Topic

Anyone get the feeling that the site is slowly dying, what with the cancellation of any further contests, and lack of a real sense of community?

VIC is right.
$upport is needed. This site runs very smoothly. & Capt. Coder & his moderators work diligently on it. Condisidering what we get in return I believe it to be worth it!

One of the ways I support the site is by paying for the perks options the site has to offer in leveling up your status. Its the realm version of the patreon. Also commenting on ppl work. It helps encourage newbie to make more customs on the site. Supporting each other is what will keep the realm going.

I think it ebbs & flows.
Man, I would be hella sad if this were to close down. I've been coming here for over 10 yrs & like Edgy 3, I have a desk job that allows me to visit often. Tjose of us that are aware & "sense a disturbance in the Force" can do something about it. I leave many comments, even if many are redundant. Everyone wants some attention, most want "Atta Boys" & others can appreciate critiques. Le's keep it alive, bros!

THIS. I am right there with you and am a prime example of ebbing and flowing! I too have been visiting this site for over a decade, but there were gaps where life intervened or I just lurked while I sulked in a creative funk. It's kind of like PBS, you take it for granted. It's always there by the magic of the internet, but no, it's here because of the creator(s), who I think is Capt. Coder, so thanks Cap! It's here because we contribute our customs and content, because we support one another with constructive critical observations that help us grow as artists. I wouldn't do what I do if not for THIS site. If it were gone I'd feel a huge void in my life. I don't show this stuff to anyone in real life, and when I do I get a 'huh, that's interesting.' kind of comment usually. I know there are other sites for customizers but I feel this site is the most human and wouldn't ever want it to go away.

I for sure hope this site powers through the dry spots. It does seem that less and less comments are left but there is still a steady stream of customs coming in. If you look through the site history there is a pattern of groups rising and falling off but there is always a new batch of customizers to take their place......hoping for this new group to keep the dream alive. Now that I have a desk job I visit everyday and look forward to seeing your work!!!!!!

hm,yeah I visit the site every day since I signed in first time and since there are no contests anymore it feels like getting more and more quiet.even on the forums...ok,there are much new sign-ins,but these seem to be people who just ask one question at a forum and that's it...less custom uploads too, just "here is my work, look at it and if you like it,I don't even care!" that's really sad... but maybe it's also a question of people's favor.I mean
there have been enough x-men or other marvel character-customs I've seen for three lifetimes...and what about some new contests? maybe one a month every kind of custom can take part in? I think much of the latest contests themes really have been too specific,so maybe it's no surprise noone or just a few cared about...

I feel that way about the country in general. No sense of community, no one communicates effectively, everyone is off doing their own thing on youtube or facebook trying to rake in ad money or whatever. This site is more like a museum for customs and a repository of information.

Sometimes I leave a skeleton in my chair at the front desk and no one even notices lol

But it's like an interactive museum that everyone can democratically contribute to, however, which makes it special. Nothing is political here. This site is the only 'social media' site I partake in. I only hang out with cool artist types. ...and don't really hang out at all IRL anymore, Facebook killed that.

Seriously, being an artist for me means living in isolation most of the time anyway. It's horrible in the winter, but that's when I get most of my customizing done.
