Power Rangers Lightning Collection custom advice

I just recently got the Lightning Collection MMPR Green Ranger and was wanting to give the figure an overhaul to look more like the Super Sentai counterpart, Dragon Ranger. More specifically, replacing the helmet head and shield, and recoloring the suit to a darker green that replicated the spandex look.

In terms of the suit itself, is there any method that can replicate the glossy sheen the spandex used? I was thinking maybe something metallic, or pearlescent, or maybe some candy over silver with a matte sealer. I'm just not sure. Can anybody more knowledgeable help me?
