Help needed to custom Ka-Zar into Tarzan.

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello everybody, I'm a total noob to customization, just found this forum while searching for 1/12 Tarzan figure, because well, there are none on the market, found many great ones in here which inspired me to give it a shot. So I ordered a ML Ka-Zar, I intend to paint his hair black and darken his eyebrows. Then I plan to try and darken his skin, ideally I'd like to give him about the same skin tone as ML Talokan Namor. I also want to leaopardize his loincloth, to give him that classic look. I might also consider trying ML Sentry's head on him. But right now my main concern is to get rid of Ka-Zar's boots. There aren't that many bare feet figures out there, and I had been thinking of ML Sub-Mariner, but looking at pics,(I don't have that figure) his legs seem very different from Ka-Zar's. So I don't think just switching the lower leg parts will look good. I guess the other option is to replace the entire legs? Not quite sure how to do this, from tutorials I've watched, I'd need to pop the legs at the hips. Then again, I don't think Sub-Mariner's legs look as good as Ka-Zar's. I had also considered the SDCC Ka-Zar for the legs, but they have those molded knives which you can't remove. Any tips from you guys who know better? Like are there other sets of legs that I should look for? Or what are my options? Thanks!

Doing something similar myself, first tried using a Namor from the boot swivel down but Namor's calves were too small for Kazar buck, Vulcan is the same body so his lower legs fit (they'll need repainting) and then I used Namor's feet which are loose on the Vulcan pegs as for the loin cloth I plan to base coat it in tan/khaki and paint random brown spots, the head I'm alternating between repainting the Kazar head or pulling off the hairpiece and using yarn to make "doll hair" it's easy, you use a fine tooth comb or cat grooming comb to detangle the yarn, then use a flattening iron, it looks like real hair and falls naturally unlike the doll hair they sell at the craft store.
