I'm a huge metal-head. I grew up on stuff like KISS, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Whitesnake, Van Halen, etc. I then started getting into the Thrash scene with Megadeth and Metallica. Now I listen to most anything rock or metal from the 70s to current. Anything ranging from Ratt, to Tool, to Cradle of Filth, to Iron Maiden.
Some Favorite Bands: Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Children of Bodom, In Flames, 3 Inches of Blood, Scar Symmetry, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Tool, Mudvayne, Queensryche, Ratt, Scorpions, Misfits, AFI, Pantera, Trivium, Ozzy Osbourne, Cradle of Filth
Yah you know it !
If you don't got - Strapping Young Lad (self titled) - what are you waiting for ?
And for anyone who likes to air guitar & has no musical talent.....check out Guitar Hero,
Its a game for the PS2.....& X Box(I think) ....it rooooooocks !
It's fine, man. I actually prefer the silver colored metals for jewelry that I personally wear (my wedding band is white gold)... white gold and platinum are becoming more and more popular alternatives to yellow gold every year. Silver is popular as well, especially since it's so much cheaper than gold or platinum.
Why yes I am, as a matter of fact... as a jeweler in training, I'm partial to gold, silver, platinum, brass, bronze, rhodium and palladium... nickel and zinc are ok, but I like the others better.
Speaking of pus- no wait, that's a horrible transition...
Sarah McLachlan is my favorite female singer.
Also, I borrow music from people I know whenever they get new stuff, even the death metal and junk. There's always that one song in the pile of baby-killing music that I think sounds awesome, usually it doesn't have vocals, hah...
Blues, R&B, Soul, Rock and some Metal - mostly older stuff.
Muddy Waters - invented electricity
Albert King - The King Of The Blues (don't care what they say 'bout BB)
Curtis Mayfield - Get the soundtrack to "SuperFly" - you won't be sorry
Aretha Franklin - The Queen
Al Green - Scorin' music.
UFO - "Strangers In The Night" - my all time fave album / CD along with Maiden, Priest, AC/DC, Zep, Michael Schenker Group, Motorhead, Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy - made up the soundtrack of my teens and 20's.
Gov't Mule & The Black Crowes - 2 best bands from the USA in the past 16 years.
The newest bands I like have been around for a while - Clutch, COC (not their punk stuff - the recent stuff), Monster Magnet, Supersuckers and Nashville Pussy
I've gotten really interested in Apocalyptica. If you don't know who they are, they're a quartet of cello players that make cello sound like ROCK! They have an album were they play MetallicA music and it kicks all sorts of butt! I've bought all of their stuff and my favorites are "the Hall of the Mountain King" and "Heat"
I went to one of their concerts... I only went because Type O Negative was there as well, and man o man... Cradle of Filth was way too loud and incoherent for my tastes. Sounded like death metal... a bunch of screaming. Maybe my hearing's not the greatest, but I had to step outside halfway through their performance, it was so deafeningly loud. I should mention though that this was my first concert.
I'm a bit of an odd duck in terms of music, because I don't listen to music in the same way others do. I could care less about "feelin' the beat or the rhythm" and am not capable of "getting lost in the music". I like certain music, but it can't be too loud, and the lyrics are far more important to me than the melody in most cases (Classical Symphony being the exception... it's good to have at a low volume in the background sometimes). That said, I like certain songs and certain bands from various genres... except for country and modern rap. I liked rap when it first came out and was "clean", sung by artists like Run DMC and the Fresh Prince, but pretty much anything Snoop Dog and later I hate in terms of rap. Country I've never liked in any form. I grew up listening to our area's Oldies station, so I know more songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s than most of my generation would care to know (I'll be 30 this next March). American Pie is one of the all time greatest songs ever written in my opinion. I like Queen and Devo from the 80s... from the 90s or so on I've been a fan of Type O Negative, Cruxshadows and the Barenaked Ladies ever since. Bloody Kisses is my all time favorite album put out by any band, with Queen's Soundtrack of Highlander coming in a close second and Stunt by Barenaked Ladies at third. Oh, and we can't forget Weird Al Yankovic... I've been following his music since "Like a Surgeon" and "The Brady Bunch" were new songs of his.
Just about anything that makes me grab my air guitar & go nuts ! ! !
My favorite CD right now:
Strapping Young Lad (self titled) - described as "the soundtrack to the apocalypse"
You name the type, I name a piece or band I like in that type. Seriously, there isn't much I don't enjoy, though it is mood dependent for almost everything. I enjoy music in other languages also, and of course parodies and they might be giants are fun!!. You can't really enjoy a parody without hearing the original, and probably enjoying it also.
I enjoy a variety of instruments, guitar, glockenspiel, harp, harpsichord, hurdi-gurdi, and bagpipes(with the exception of Amazing Grace. it is WAY overplayed)
Bands include but are not limited to: Metalica, Weird Al, They Might Be Giants, Pantera, Pink Floyd, AC DC, Rammstein, En Extremo, Tra, Moonspell, Frankie Valley and the four seasons, Beatles, Wagner, Mozart, and on.
The list does go on, and about the only genres where I dislike more than I like of what I have heard are gangsta rap, and bubblegum pop.
Gorky´s Zygotyc Mynci, LOS PLANETAS, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Belle & Sebastian, Kasabian, Cielito Lindo, Pearl Jam, Danzig, Fields of the Nephilim, Te Doors, El Niño Gusano, Las Novias, Heroes del Silencio (This three ones are from my city), Sonic Youth, Red House Painters, Add N to X, Rinocerose, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Franz Ferdinand, Stereolab, Goran Bregovic, classic music, and so much more...
I mainly like rock and metal. My favorite bands are Metallica and Dragonforce(they have the fastest guitar player ever!); I also like System of a Down, Rammstein, Megadeth, Clutch, and Dethklok(fictional band from Adult Swim's show Metalocalypse).
I also like some things that are kind of "classical", like the song One Winged Angel(from FFVII), Metallica's S&M album & their cover of Ecstacy of Gold, and Star Wars Imperial March.
Blues. Most of the stuff other people don't listen to, the old crackly recordings etc. Most anything with a Harmonica (I play the Blues Harp) and classic rock. Never been much of a metal person but I like the old stuff like DIO Sabbath etc. Pretty much all depends on my mood in all honesty. Most of the bands now a days though I have no clue about except Wolf Mother which reminds me of old Zeppelin or Sabbath. Really fond of old motown soul music too. Oh and bagpipe music heh.
Im a bit older than most here I think, some I know are about the same age....I like whatever suits my mood...Mostly PO'D and brooding so I like stuff from System of a down, Pantera, Prong....Mostly heavy stuff..But I have been known to listen to the mellow stylings of one James Taylor.
